Neoprene rubber is naturally 100% waterproof. Water cannot pass through the solid rubber.
However, factories must sew different pieces of rubber together to make a suit. They use industrial sewing machines.
Sharp needles punch thousands of tiny holes through the rubber. This destroys the waterproof barrier. Water easily finds these holes and flows right through the fabric.
Cheap factories try to fix this by using liquid glue over the stitches.
This is a terrible mistake. Liquid glue dries hard. When the diver stretches their arms, the hard glue cracks. The saltwater eats the glue. The seams start leaking on the very first dive.

How do you build a drysuit that never leaks a single drop?

1. Glued and Blind-Stitched (GBS) Base
We never punch holes completely through the rubber. First, we glue the raw edges of the neoprene together.
Then, we use a curved needle. The needle only goes halfway into the rubber. It catches the inner thread and comes back out. The outside of the neoprene remains completely solid and hole-free.
2. Heat-Sealed TPU Seam Taping
GBS is great, but drysuits need absolute perfection. We add a heavy-duty inner shield.
We use TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) tape. This tape is highly elastic and totally waterproof.
Our workers use a specialized hot-air taping machine. The machine blows extreme heat onto the TPU tape. The heat melts the tape directly into the fabric covering the inner seam.
3. The Permanent Waterproof Lock
When the TPU tape cools down, it creates a permanent chemical bond. The seam is now completely covered by a flat, flexible plastic shield.
Even under massive deep-water pressure, water cannot pass this barrier. The tape stretches perfectly with the neoprene. It never cracks. It never peels.

Q1: Will the TPU tape make the inside of the drysuit feel rough or scratchy?
No. TPU tape is incredibly smooth and soft. When we melt it into the seam, it sits very flat against the fabric. It will not rub or chafe the diver's skin or their thermal undergarments.
Q2: Does TPU tape work on all thicknesses of neoprene?
Yes. We apply heat-sealed TPU tape on everything from 3mm surfing wetsuits to massive 7mm commercial drysuits. Our technicians calibrate the heat machines perfectly for every rubber thickness to ensure a permanent bond.
Q3: Can these sealed drysuits be washed?
Yes. Divers must wash salt and sweat out of their gear. The TPU tape is completely waterproof and marine-grade. Divers can safely wash the suit with fresh water and mild wetsuit shampoo. The tape will not peel off.
Q4: Do you tape the seams on the inside or the outside of the suit?
For drysuits, we almost always apply TPU tape to the inside of the suit. This protects the tape from scraping against sharp rocks or boat ladders on the outside. It keeps the waterproof barrier safely hidden.
